Mod «Bolts, Bits, & Boomsticks» for Project Zomboid
This mod introduces a comprehensive firearm customization system, allowing players to disassemble and reassemble weapons from various components. Disassembling transfers damage to the receiver, enabling repairs by swapping receivers between weapons of the same type (Rifle, Shotgun, or Handgun). Combining parts from different weapons can create new configurations or unique weapons not found in the vanilla game, such as the Heavy Auto Rifle or Lever-Action Shotgun.
Firearm assembly requires knowledge from skill magazines or specific skill levels: Maintenance 1, Aiming 4, and Reloading 4.
Firearm Components:
- Firing Mechanism: determines firing type
- Stock: affects weight and recoil (Wood Stock for recoil management, Stockless Grip for lightweight, Polymer Stock as a balance)
- Barrel: determines range
- Magwell: determines ammunition type, capacity, and magazine compatibility
- Receiver: the main frame of the weapon
New crafting recipes include extending or trimming magwells, sawing down barrels, and converting wooden stocks to stockless grips or planks to stocks.
Armor:
- Hauberk: crafted from chainmail made of wire found in hardware stores. Functions as an armored hoodie with 100 bite and scratch defense but is heavy and restricts combat speed.
Compatibility:
- Supports multiplayer
- Does not support disassembly of weapons from other mods
- May conflict with mods that alter vanilla weapon stats
- Future updates aim to add compatibility with mods like VFE
