The Helicopter Event Framework is a modular system that expands the vanilla helicopter event with configurable secondary scenarios, dynamic world effects, and audio-driven storytelling. Instead of a single scripted moment, helicopter activity can trigger multiple logic-driven events with real gameplay consequences, fully adjustable through Sandbox options. The system operates without intrusive UI or popups to maintain immersion.

Event Types:

  • Toxic Event: Disperses a hazardous gas cloud that damages zombies and players over time. Exposure causes sickness but is mitigated by gas masks and enclosed buildings. The infection decays naturally after the event ends and attracts zombies to the contaminated zone.
  • Support Event: Aerial support engages and damages individual zombies in the area without attracting additional hordes.
  • Hostile Event: An aggressive helicopter targets players directly with lethal burst attacks during short engagement windows. Does not attract zombies.
  • Bombarder Event: Area bombardment occurs far from active players, damaging zombies in distant zones as background warfare without attraction mechanics.
  • Explosion Event (Meta): Triggers a powerful explosion sound far from the player to redirect zombie movement toward a distant location via audio manipulation.
  • Helicopter Crash Event (Meta): Simulates a helicopter being shot down and crashing in the distance, creating strong directional sound attraction to pull zombies away from player zones.
  • Surveillance Event: A reconnaissance helicopter circles an area with tactical sensor sounds to increase psychological pressure. Does not attract zombies or cause damage.
  • Incendiary Sweep Event: A military helicopter performs a sweep across a distant area, launching napalm strikes to alter zombie distribution without directly targeting players.
  • Smoke Curtain Event: Deploys smoke cover to disrupt visibility and enhance stealth. Zombies inside the smoke cannot properly perceive the player, allowing temporary free movement.
  • Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Event: Disrupts electronic signals, temporarily disabling portable radios, reducing communication range, and draining batteries from active devices.
  • Sniper Cover Event: Provides suppressed precision fire against nearby zombies only when valid targets exist near the player.
  • Propaganda Broadcast Event: Broadcasts distorted official messages that attract zombies through sound and gradually increase psychological stress.
  • Fuel Reclamation Event: Simulates large-scale fuel extraction, reducing fuel reserves at gas stations by configurable percentages for long-term impact.
  • Armored Target Strike Event: Performs precision missile strikes against armored military vehicles near the player.

Core Systems:

  • Radius-based damage and exposure calculations
  • Zombie-aware environmental interaction
  • Indoor vs. outdoor mitigation logic
  • Equipment-based protection scaling
  • Persistent but decaying status effects
  • Multiplayer-safe server authoritative logic
