Simple Suppressors introduces practical firearm suppressors to Project Zomboid Build 42 without adding new firearms or external dependencies. Suppressors utilize a dedicated muzzle slot that coexists with weapon lights and match ammunition calibers at runtime, supporting both vanilla and modded firearms. Shot range and volume are reduced through configurable sandbox settings.

Features:

  • 14 suppressors across seven calibers in two tiers: Machined (quieter) and Oil-filter (cheaper, heavier, louder)
  • Runtime caliber matching for automatic compatibility with modded firearms
  • Dedicated muzzle attachment point allowing simultaneous use of weapon lights
  • Craftable components and finished suppressors with configurable loot spawn rates
  • Server-safe implementation for solo and multiplayer modes

Suppressor Tiers:

  • Machined: Built from welded baffle stacks; offers the quietest performance
  • Oil-filter: Crafted from scavenged vehicle oil filters; cheaper and faster to make but less effective

Supported Calibers:

  • 12 Gauge: Pump and sawn-off shotguns (excluding double-barrel)
  • 5.56: Assault rifle, varmint rifle
  • 9mm: Pistols
  • .45: .45 pistol, trapper carbine
  • .308: Hunting rifle, battle rifle
  • .357: Lever-action carbine
  • .44: Desert Eagle and .44 Magnum revolver

Crafting:

All items are crafted at a welding setup using a blowtorch and welding mask. Recipes are learned from the Improvised Suppressors Manual , found in libraries, garages, gun stores, and mechanic workshops. Baffle cutting is known by default.

  • Baffles: Cut from small sheet metal (Hacksaw or Blowtorch)
  • Baffle Stack: Weld six baffles around an iron pipe (Metalworking 3)
  • Caliber Adapter: Thread a caliber mount from an iron pipe (Metalworking 1)
  • Machined Suppressor: Combine baffle stack, iron pipe, and caliber adapter (Metalworking 2)
  • Oil-filter Suppressor: Combine scavenged oil filter, hand drill, and caliber adapter (Metalworking 1)

Vehicle Mechanics:

Players can remove oil filters from vehicles to salvage them for crafting. Driving without an oil filter causes gradual engine damage. Removal time and wear rates are configurable via sandbox options.

Sound Configuration:

  • Hearing Radius: Default 20% (controls zombie detection range)
  • Volume: Default 55% (controls auditory loudness)
