Mod «Dynamic Backpack Upgrades [ B41-B42.20 ]» for Project Zomboid

This mod introduces a dynamic upgrade system for all inventory container items in the game, allowing players to enhance backpack capacity and weight reduction efficiency. Each container features one or two upgrade slots, with wearable bags receiving two slots. Upgrades are applied using specific items, a sewing needle, and thread, while scissors are required for removal. Players with Tailoring level 10 can add an additional upgrade slot to any bag.

Upgrade Mechanics:

• Upgrades persist until the item is destroyed or manually removed
• Military upgrades are loot-only but can be converted between types (Capacity to Weight Reduction) by players with Tailoring level 10
• Stats for upgrades and spawn rates are adjustable via Sandbox settings

Capacity Upgrades: These provide both flat bonuses and percentage multipliers to base capacity. The formula used is: Capacity = ceil((BaseCapacity * (1 + SumMultiplierBonus)) + SumFlatBonus) . Capacity is still influenced by Organized and Disorganized traits.

Weight Reduction Upgrades: These improve weight reduction efficiency based on the difference between the current value and 100%. The formula used is: Weight Reduction = 100 — ((100 — BaseWR) * ProductEfficiencyBonus) .

Crafting Requirements:

• Cloth: +10% Capacity / +15% Efficiency (Tailoring 3)
• Denim: +20% Capacity / +25% Efficiency (Tailoring 5)
• Leather: +25% Capacity / +35% Efficiency (Tailoring 7)
• Military: +35% Capacity / +50% Efficiency (Loot Only)

Known Issues & Notes:

• May cause text clipping with mods that add custom tooltips
• If a bag becomes too heavy to pick up due to the 50-weight hard limit before equipping, place it on the floor, remove items to reduce weight, then equip it
• Using an upgraded item as a crafting ingredient will delete the upgrade data
• A «Fix Upgrades» context menu option appears if item stats reset unexpectedly
