Mod «Project A-Life [ALIFE NPCS]» for Project Zomboid
Project A-LIFE brings a persistent living world to Project Zomboid, inspired by the A-Life system from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. NPCs and factions are simulated both online and offline, patrolling, raiding, holding territory, scavenging, and reacting to player actions even when not on screen.
- Factions with distinct agendas: Some factions warn players before engaging, others rob them, and some attack on sight.
- Tactical squads: NPCs utilize orders, breaching tactics, suppressing fire, snipers, and medics who patch up wounded allies.
- Off-screen simulation: Squads travel between towns via real roads, engage in combat outside the player's view, and may return for revenge days after being defeated.
- Outposts: Fortified locations featuring garrisons, supplies, and radio communications that can be intercepted or used to call for reinforcements.
- Dynamic encounters: Includes patrols, ambushes, roadblocks, rooftop shooters, occupied buildings, assassins, and full-scale raids on player bases.
- Custom content creator: Players can build custom NPCs and factions, exporting them as share codes to distribute to others.
- Extensive customization: Features 105 sandbox options to adjust difficulty, frequency of encounters, and other world parameters.
Supported Build: Build 42.20 (unstable). Build 41 is not supported. The mod works in singleplayer, co-op, and on dedicated servers.
Compatibility Notes: This mod can be added to existing saves without requiring a new world. It can also be removed later without breaking the save file, as it does not add custom items or objects to the world. No third-party mod code is required. Note that A-Life NPCs are built on zombie objects; mods that cull or teleport zombies may affect them unless configured to skip objects where zombie:getModData().ProjectALifeOwned == true .
