Mod «True Swimming» for Project Zomboid

This mod enables survivors to swim in Project Zomboid. Instead of treating water bodies as impassable walls, players can walk into the water and swim using breaststroke and treading-water animations, with the character's body half-submerged. Zombies remain on the bank while the player crosses or flees through the water.

• Swim by walking into the water; running (Shift) and sprinting (Alt) increase speed but drain stamina faster.
• Stamina consumption is influenced by fitness level, carried weight, traits, gear (such as swimming goggles and swimsuits), and current condition.
• Drowning mechanics include injuries, loss of heavy items when overloaded, and a full drowning animation where the body remains afloat with the backpack.
• Characters get wet upon entering the water, including their clothes.
• Visual and audio effects include wakes, splashes, and sounds for entering, swimming, and leaving the water.
• Combat is disabled in the water: no shooting or melee attacks. Aiming while stationary results in treading water.
• The context menu is trimmed while in the water.

Sandbox options are available to enable or disable the mod, set whether the survivor knows how to swim, adjust stamina multipliers, configure drowning modes (injuries, death at zero stamina, or none), manage item loss, and display the stamina bar above the head.

This mod is for singleplayer only and requires Build 42 (42.20+). It has no dependencies. Water tiles are restored immediately after leaving the water.
