Mod «Computer Mod» for Project Zomboid

This mod transforms Project Zomboid's decorative computers into fully functional machines. Players can install operating systems, set passwords, browse websites, download and install games, read magazines and newspapers, watch video files, use applications, burn CDs, and communicate with other players.

Computer Hardware

• Every computer requires a motherboard, processor, RAM, graphics card, and hard drive.
• Components wear down during use, and missing or failed parts prevent startup.
• Parts can be found in the world or crafted. With the right tools, skills, and materials, they can be installed, removed, and repaired.
• Component loot, starting condition, and wear rate can be adjusted in sandbox settings.

Playable Games

There are currently 24 playable games. Some computers may have games pre-installed, while others may not. Games can be installed via Game CDs found in the world or by downloading them from knoxshare.bbs through the browser. Downloads take time and will be canceled if the computer is shut down. Playing games reduces boredom, stress, and sadness, while losing increases stress slightly.

Applications

A fresh OS includes My Files, Notepad, Browser, Paint, Calculator, Mail, Board, Chat, Market, Settings, and Music Player.

• Mail: Create an account, log in from different computers, send and reply to messages, and delete emails.
• Board: Post public messages readable by other players with computers.
• Chat: Create an account, send friend requests, and privately message other players.
• Market: Buy rotating shop items and complete jobs for money. Items and jobs refresh over time and are shared across servers.
• Paint: Draw simple images and save them as desktop files.

Files and Storage

Players can create, rename, delete, and move folders and files, as well as organize the desktop. Folders can contain notes, paint files, magazines, newspapers, videos, and other readable content. Blank CDs found in the world can be used to store files or burn installed games. Removed CDs retain their name and content. Applications cannot be copied, but files can.

Media

Computers found in the world may contain recipe magazines, newspapers, or video files. Consuming this content takes time and affects the character. Recipe magazines teach the same recipes as their physical counterparts. Hidden websites offering additional media may be discovered through notes or emails.

Security and OS Installation

Password-protected computers can be accessed by knowing the password, finding it, resetting the disk via BIOS, or using a Password Hack CD. Hacking requires completing a mini-game and typically Electrical level 1. Resetting the disk deletes the OS and local data. Computers without an OS require a PZ OS 3.1 CD to install the system via BIOS.

Internet Outage System

Internet access depends on the world power grid. If power fails, the internet may go offline based on sandbox settings. To restore the network, players must locate and repair relay terminals using Electrical skill and electronic parts. Relays may require continuous power from sources like generators. This system can be adjusted or disabled in sandbox options.

Customization

Players can change the computer name, profile picture, password, desktop background color, date and clock formats, interface scale, and file layout. Desktop icons and folders can be moved on a grid.

Supported languages include English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Hungarian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, Finnish, Korean, Thai, Traditional Chinese, and Ukrainian.
