Mod «Obvious Skill Tapes - highlight useful VHS tapes» for Project Zomboid

Tints VHS tapes that teach skills or recipes green in inventory windows, making them stand out at a glance. This mod uses the game's own media data, so minor changes should be picked up automatically without frequent updates.

• Cosmetic only: does not change what tapes do, where they spawn, or how they are watched.

Options are available in the game's Options screen under the mod options panel:

• Highlight color : Green is the default. Users can pick any color with a live preview of a tape icon.
• Star badge : Optionally stamps a small star in the corner of useful tapes (same color as highlight).

Compatibility:

• Project Zomboid Build 42 only.
• No dependencies.
• Supports singleplayer and multiplayer.
• Patches a vanilla inventory draw call rather than overriding any class.
• Works with UI mods that use the vanilla icon path (e.g., ErgonomicUI, Icons Inventory).
