Mod «Horse Utility Add-on» for Project Zomboid

This add-on expands the Horse Mod with practical features for everyday use, including setting a personal mount, building a bond, calling and tracking the horse, adding weapon storage to the saddle, and using equipped reins for leading and hitching. The new features are integrated into the existing Horse Mod menus and equipment system.

Personal Mount and Bond System:

• Set one horse as your personal mount
• Build a bond from 0 to 100 by riding, leading, feeding, and petting
• View the current bond directly inside Horse Mod's Animal Information window
• Hover over the bond value for an explanation of the system

Call and Track:

• Set a keybind to call your personal mount under Options > Mods > Horse Utility Add-on > Primary Mount > Call primary mount . The key is unbound by default
• Call range increases as the bond grows
• Track your horse on the world map and minimap
• See its last known location if you become separated

Saddle Weapon Storage:

• Add separate weapon storage slots to the left and right side of the saddle
• Use two of the same holder or combine the bag and scabbard
• Saddle Rifle Bag: capacity 9 and fully enclosed
• Saddle Rifle Scabbard: capacity 6, faster access, and a visible stored long gun
• Open scabbards appear as additional hotbar slots while mounted, allowing you to quickly draw or store a long gun
• Stored weapons retain their condition, ammunition, and attachments

Both finished saddle attachments can be found as uncommon loot wherever Horse Mod saddles can appear, including jockey lockers, barns, farm storage, camping and hunting locations, survival gear containers, supply crates, sports stores, and Wild West general stores. Both attachments can also be crafted through the Tailoring crafting menu. The recipes are learned automatically at Tailoring 3 .

Saddle Rifle Bag crafting recipe:

• 1 Sewing Needle (tool, not consumed)
• 1 pair of Scissors or 1 Sharp Knife (tool, not consumed)
• 2 Heavy Thread
• 2 Leather Strips
• 2 Buckles
• 1 empty Cloth Gun Case (rifle, shotgun, alternate, and camouflage variants are accepted; hard rifle cases are not accepted)

Accepted vanilla item variants: Base.Bag_RifleCaseCloth, Base.Bag_RifleCaseCloth2, Base.Bag_ShotgunCaseCloth, Base.Bag_ShotgunCaseCloth2, and Base.Bag_RifleCaseClothCamo.

Saddle Rifle Scabbard crafting recipe:

• 1 Sewing Needle (tool, not consumed)
• 1 pair of Scissors or 1 Sharp Knife (tool, not consumed)
• 1 Heavy Thread
• 3 Leather Strips
• 2 Buckles

The vanilla Cloth Gun Case required for the closed bag can be found in its normal loot locations, including gun stores, hunting storage, pawn shops, garages, hunter or trapper loot, and some vehicle storage.

Lead and Hitch with Reins:

• Lead a horse using its equipped reins without carrying a separate rope
• Hitch it to suitable trees, fences, posts, and other appropriate world objects
• Select a hitching point while mounted. Your character automatically rides there, dismounts, and hitches the horse
• Uses matching icons and the existing Horse Mod context menus
